Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose. – Proverbs 18:21 Message
Being a voice of hope is still something that we all can do, and it shows where our relationship with God stands. The voice of hope comes from those who know God. It does not matter our rank in life, when you provide God’s hope people will see the leadership and follow.
You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them. – John 13:13-17
What does it take to be a successful leader? Many see leadership as being in charge, control and running the show, however Christian leadership takes a different approach. To lead like Jesus, a leader needs to have a humble heart, value and encourage others, be accountable and be willing to give God the glory for the success. Are you ready for Christian leadership?
A good team is one that is able to focus on a common goal and achieve it. But it is the coach who directs the team, set an agenda, chooses what role each member of the team plays, corrects and motivates the team. A pastor is like a coach, there is plenty of work but not a lot of glory in equipping God’s saints to fulfill their potential within the Body of Christ.
Only the Gospel of John contains the account of Jesus washing the disciples feet. Jesus explained to the 12 that a Christian Life is one of serving others, not only those with high positions but also our peers and those we lead. Humbling ourselves for the love of Jesus can be the most effective way of reaching the lost.
Being a Christian does not guarantee smooth sailing in life. Truth is Christians face the same temptations that everyone else has to face in life. So when a leader falls how does it affect the Church? When a leader falls how should a Christian react?
